Rick vs Negan (The Walking Dead Vol 20: All Out War Part 1)

He’s brutalized Glenn and Abraham, terrorized Daryl and the Alexandria Safe-Zone, and systematically broken Rick Grimes down to a shell of his former self. But we do have a way to try and guess where his story might be heading, thanks to The Walking Dead‘s source material.

Negan (Comic Series)

Negan is a fictional character in the comic book series The Walking Dead and in the television series of the same name. He is the leader of a group of survivors in the Sanctuary, called the Saviors, a group that oppresses other survivor communities and forces them to pay tribute to him. In the comics, the character's appearance is based on Henry Rollins , as confirmed by Charlie Adlard ; [1] Robert Kirkman worked in his excessive use of profanity , derived from other people he knew. After Rick Grimes and his fellow survivors agree to begin a trading relationship with the Hilltop Colony, they are ambushed by the Saviors and are forced to obey Negan's orders to give the Saviors half of their supplies, as the other communities do. Initially obedient, Rick and the others secretly conspire with other communities in the Washington, D. Negan resides in an abandoned factory, where most of the attractive women—formerly other men's girlfriends or wives—act as his wives. He soon grows fond of Rick's son, Carl Grimes.

He was the former leader of the Saviors. He used his authority and resources to subjugate other communities tribute to the Saviors, in exchange for protection against zombies. The communities join together and start a conflict against the Saviors, which ends up with Dwight taking charge of the Saviors, now willing to cooperate with the communities. Negan is then incarcerated, receiving a life sentence. Two years later, Negan joins the Militia , having previously given advice to Rick during his time in prison.

Image Source: AMC. Negan has been an unfortunate plague upon season seven of The Walking Dead. First, we watched him kill two major characters in the season premiere: Glenn and Abe. In more recent episodes, several more people fall victim to his sadistic killing streak. While the whole season has been a gradual introduction to his world, we do know how the rest of Negan's storyline plays out in the comic-book series. The Walking Dead TV series has veered from canon before, so we can't assume all of this will really go down on the show, though a lot of it already has. At this point, you have to know that in the comic books, it's Glenn who Negan mercilessly beats to death with Lucille.

The Walking Dead set the stage for a popular comic book arc with Negan to be carried out ahead of schedule with Sunday's Mid-Season Nine finale. After breaking Father Gabriel down using his words, Negan's jail cell door was left unlocked as the pastor left their last visit in a frustrated hurry. His final appearance in the Mid-Season Nine finale saw the villain tossing his tennis ball behind him and making a break for it. This story is pulled straight from the pages of The Walking Dead comics, though Father Gabriel was not directly involved in Robert Kirkman's source material. Negan first appeared in Issue back in , and ended up becoming a major player over the course of nine volumes. And given how seemingly invincible Negan seems now, you might be surprised at where he ends up. But his murder of Glenn in the comics was the first of many violent deaths that he either directly or indirectly contributed to. During his time as tyrant-in-chief in the comics, Negan was responsible for the deaths of dozens of people, including characters like Spencer, Abraham, and Denise. He also proved to be just as vicious toward his own Saviors as he was to the Hilltop, the Kingdom, and Alexandria.
