The Call (The Call, #1) by Peadar Ó Guilín

This book was so much better than I was expecting it to be! Mind you, I wasnt a huge fan of the writing style, but it didnt really affect my overall enjoyment of the story. This book is gruesome & horrific. At times I had to set the book down, because of how twisted it was getting, but then Id pick it right back up, because I had to know what was going to happen! This is the perfect read if youre looking for a unique horror story!

Possibly I was expecting a sort-of Hunger Games with fairies… and I fervently dislike fairies. But no, I was wrong. The Call is a dark and twisted, fast-paced, action-packed novel that I was glued to for two whole days. With no fairies in sight. Plot summary: Yo u have three minutes to save your life.

But he is matter-of-fact instead. It is a day in their world, but only three minutes in human time — and most do not survive. To give them the best possible chance, schools are now places where one learns to fight, although some elements of the traditional boarding school motif remain. As someone who loves creating worlds, he begins with the central idea of the story and considers its ramifications. I tried to imagine all the ways such a situation might influence Irish society.

  1. And then you hear a horn and you know that whoever lives in this hell has got your scent and the hunt has already begun.
