Windows xp why does my screen jump up and down

The last few days my screen has been jumping up and down and flickering. I've also been getting messages that my C: drive is almost full. Only 5. I've only had this computer a few months, so I'm thinking it must have a virus, or something. Any ideas out there??? Thanks much!!
