Kashmir Is Burning (Urdu) - Poem by Faheem Iqbal Wani

Showcasing her multilingual poetic expertise on social media, rhymester Rumuz E Bekhudi has emerged as one of the promising poets from Kashmir whose weighty assonance has already created a virtual cult for her. Ek tum Doosre bhi tum hi; Zarkhez ho tum, Khud mai, khud se. I had thought, I had thought that, we two, are one, but we two, turned out to be two; one was you, another was you too. Every time, poet Rumuz E Bekhudi uploads her poems on Facebook, she leaves netizens—mainly her multiplying followers—wonderstruck. Much of that admiration comes from her polished poetic sense and execution, helping her construct stanzas in English, Kashmiri and Urdu.

Koi awaz ab uthaye ki kashmir jal raha hai Koi insaf ab dilaye ki kashmir jal raha hai Har fard hai pareshan, bechain o dil shikasta Koi marham inhein lagaye ki kashmir jal raha hai Maon ki goad suni, har baap tadap raha hai Koi inki sunle haye ki kashmir jal eaha hai Zalim hai sena tane, mazloom hai besahara Koi zulm ab mitaye ki kashmir jal raha hai Din mai bhi hai andhera, khurshed bhi hai benoor Koi shamma banke aaye ki kashmir jal raha hai. KARACHI: Urdu poetry has often been accused of being too limited and narrowly focussed on a few themes such as love and beauty of the sweetheart. Another blame that Urdu poetry has to bear with is that it is a mere duplication of Persian poetry. Thirdly, it is often said that Urdu poetry does not reflect the local milieu as it has borrowed the motifs from Persian poetry. The imagery, allusions and even the names of birds, trees and flowers have been borrowed from the Persian, so go the naysayers, such as, Dr Muhammad Sadiq and Dr Kaleemuddin Ahmed. But what critics like Dr Sadiq and Dr Kaleemuddin ignored was the fact that poetry, and to a greater degree ghazal, reflects society in a much subtler way than do the other forms of art since poets use symbols and metaphors. Verses often do not mean what their wordings apparently convey and it is only the trained mind that fully deciphers the true message hidden in poetry.
