So in addition to my usual reading material scientific research papers and a variety of books , I read the entire longlist for that prize -- which means I've read a total of more than one hundred mostly science books. Because I was a judge for that prize, I was uncomfortable writing my usual, detailed book reviews because I didn't want to give the impression of favoritism.
