There are so many good books for middle schoolers with strong female protagonists out there to choose from! Take me to the Book Club Sign Up! This book, which was released only a few months ago to great reviews, follows siblings Tess and Theo along with their friend Jamie, who are tasked with solving a centuries-old puzzle built into New York City by its architects. This fast-paced mystery shows readers that being smart is cool and might get you some sweet treasure along the way. Think of this book like Spiderman, but replace Peter Parker with Doreen Green and spiders with the far cooler, far cuddlier — squirrels!

Sixth graders lead busy lives. With sports practice, homework, weekend debate tournaments, and walking to Starbucks with friends after school, it can be hard to find time to read for pleasure. So, how do we get them to read? The secret to getting anyone to read, especially busy middle schoolers, is finding the book that hooks. Here are six books that the sixth graders in my Bookoplis Book Club are raving about right now and made time in their busy schedules to read.

I found contemporary rom-coms, fairy tales, and fantasy books with a strong romantic plot and collected them into this book list. These romance stories for middle school girls are about crushes, first kisses, and friendship drama. Hopefully, your daughter will too! If you make a purchase using my link, I may receive a small commission at no cost to you. A ballet school drop-out, a ski trip to France, and plenty of awkward moments make this an adorable middle school romance novel. Girls that like stories of wealthy kids, exotic destinations, and first love will adore this cute rom-com.

  1. Past the cute stages of early childhood and not quite big enough to be a full fledged teen or young adult, kids in their middle years face a very particular set of challenges and experiences: Friendships change and die, interests and hobbies wax and wane, and bodies, well, bodies start changing.
