Amelia anne and the green umbrella
Ameliaranne and the Green Umbrella by Constance Heward
What a sweet book! Short and simple with darling illustrations. Ameliaranne is the oldest of 6 Stiggins children and is off by herself to the Squires house for a tea party while the others are kept home sick in bed. The sounds of her sad siblings gives Ameliaranne a plan and she grabs her green umbrella as she leaves. At the tea party, the Squires sister, a cross old maid, keeps her eye on Ameliaranne and nearly ruins everything. Happily, the Squire comes to the rescue. My 5-year-old loves that the main character shares her name. Ill have to look up some of the other Ameliaranne stories.I read this online at Google Books: http://books.google.com/books?id=IZUp...
