The Fox and the Hound by Walt Disney CompanyThis was a heartwarming book about - you guessed it! A fox and a hound. They were great friends until the hound (Copper) had to go on a trip! The fox (Tod) was very lonely after he left. When Copper came back with his brother, Chief and his owner, Amos, the two were fully grown animals. However Copper had a job, which was to hunt foxes. He told Tod that they couldn’t be friends anymore and Tod was sad. Tod kept on trying to be friends until Amos tried to shoot him. One day Tod decided to follow the dogs and Amos to where they were going with his new friend, which was a fox too. Amos got caught in a bear trap and there was a bear! Copper tried to fight for his dear owner but he got knocked down. Tod couldn’t let his friendship go like that so he saved Copper, Amos and Chief. Amos got out of the trap and aimed his gun at Tod. Since Tod just saved Copper and his loved ones life, Copper defended him. Amos brought his gun down, which was the right thing to do.

Tom Sito discusses the turmoil at Disney Feature Animation around the time The Fox and the Hound was made, marking the transition between the Old Men of the Classic Era and the newcomers of today's animation industry. Films can be important for different reasons: blockbuster box office, the creative apogee of a particular performer, the first to debut a new innovation. The Walt Disney Studio's release The Fox and the Hound is probably not on many lists of top ten animated films of all time but it has an importance unique from other animated films. It marked the turning point, when the Golden Age artists of Pinnochio and Bambi yielded their torch finally and forever to the Baby Boom generation. Milt Kahl, Marc Davis and Ward Kimball had moved on from feature animation or otherwise retired, and Eric Larson had focused on training incoming talent. John Lounsbery and Les Clark had died.

It has cute little animals and wise old owls. It has a villain in the shape of a mountainous grizzly bear, and comic relief in a long-standing feud between a woodpecker and a caterpillar. And it has songs that contain such uncontroversial wishes as, "If only the world wouldn't get in the way, If only the world would let us play. It's not just cute animals and frightening adventures and a happy ending; it's also a rather thoughtful meditation on how society determines our behavior. The movie is a fable about a small puppy named Copper and an orphaned fox named Tod. At the outset we sense something unusual, after the camera traces a gloomy path through the shadows of the forest, a mother fox and her baby come running terrified out of the woods, chased by hunters and hounds.
