Penny of the Pyramids by Frank BerriosMr. Peabody & Sherman hits theatres March 7, 2014!
DreamWorks Animation brings Jay Wards classic cartoon Mr. Peabody & Sherman to the big screen in an all-new comedy adventure for the whole family. Mr. Peabody is the worlds smartest person who just so happens to be a dog. When his pet boy, Sherman, uses their time-traveling WABAC machine without permission, the events in history spiral out of control to disastrous and comical results! Its up to this most unexpected of father-son teams to put things back on track. This Step 2 leveled reader brings all the action and time-travel adventure to boys and girls ages 4 to 6 who are just learning to read on their own.
Based on the Peabody 's Improbable History moments that were broadcast as part of The Rocky And Bullwinkle Show, the key idea is that Mr Peabody is a genius dog, who adopts a boy by the name of Sherman. After all, argues the film, if a boy can adopt a dog, why can't a dog adopt a boy? We'll leave that to Social Services to sort out. It proves to be helpful having a genius dog as one of the two lead characters in a big movie though, as it allows it a well-implemented educational element, without it becoming overbearing and scaring people away. Courtesy of a time machine known as the WABAC, Mr Peabody and Sherman find themselves zipping throughout various moments in history, meeting historical characters, and subtly giving the younger members of the audience an introduction to things they may not be aware of.
