Jane M. Orient, MD, is the current author, but much of Joseph Sapira's original text remains. Sapira was trained in both psychiatry and internal medicine and is known for his prolific writing and modeling of excellence in bedside diagnosis and medical interviewing. Orient, a general internist and clinical lecturer at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson, is also a medical writer and has authored many books, including several fiction books with medical backgrounds.
