Eve (Eve Duncan, #12; Eve, Quinn & Bonnie, #1) by Iris JohansenIf you are reading this thinking that you will (finally!) find out the identity of Bonnies killer...think again.
I *get* that Johansen has built her main character with a huge chunk of Eves drive and reason for living all about finding Bonnies killer...but how many more books will she be able to draw it out? My guess? 2 more. (Since Eve is the first book of a trilogy--followed by Quinn, where I guess well be able to understand why Joe is willing and able to be so pussy-whipped even though Eve pisses him off most of the time; and then finishing with Bonnie where well see...I have no idea.)
So, so of the good things: we find out about Bonnies conception and Eves life in the hood before she got knocked up.
Some annoying things: the way Eve keeps referring to Jane as, my adopted daughter or Jane MacGuire...my daughter. Duh! Everyone knows who the hell Jane is. The cast of eleventy-bajillion characters. I cant keep them all straight. The ever-present evil empire government employees. Really? It sounds like everyone who works for the feds is dirty.
So, will I read the others? Yep, because I want to finish the story once and for all...and Im a glutton for punishment.
All About Eve
Sun Mi had a nice childhood and grew up with lots of love from her father. Young Mi's mother left her when she was young and her father was a drunk who recently died. She had a hard childhood but never gave up and made it into college. Sun Mi's father helps Young Mi and brings her to Seoul. Both of them aspire to be news anchors and they go to the same school.
It featured a deceptively sweet and demure young woman from a poor background named Eve, who quietly but ruthlessly attempts to usurp everything she covets from her idol, a successful but aging actress. The highly enjoyable Korean drama of the same name borrows just a little bit from its predecessor. It takes place not in the world of theater, but in that of television news-casting. Its protagonist is not named Eve that is the name of a television program , but she is another deceptive young woman who hides her true ambitious nature under a guise of wide-eyed innocence. She too relentlessly pursues what another woman has, from her career to her boyfriend. Chae Rim's character projects an earnest, girl next-door appeal, while sultry and willowy Kim So Yeon plays the darker character Young-mi, around whom all the future intrigue revolves.
