2000 Words: A collection of short stories by Sonya C. DoddEvery time I read a really great book of short stories my biggest complaint is that its too short. Theyre just so good, I race through them to read the next one, then the next one until...its all over. This is one of those books.
From downright creepy to some quite heartbreaking ones - certainly the first one fits the second description! - theres quite a generous selection in this book.
If I had to pick a favourite, Id say The Perfect Halo, because that had me in tears early on. Second would have to be The Grass Is Always Greener...as that particular short made me laugh.
In her short stories, just like her novels, Dodd pulls me in with her relatable characters - even the unpleasant Patrick, though I wont tell you what he did to make me dislike him so much. In a few short words, she manages to convey a person who is unique and not a stereotype - so that Im waiting to see what theyll do next. From Charlotte to Roland to Melody to Hannah, and everyone in between.
Ill definitely be reading this book again.
